Faith Over Fear - In Honor of Kamryn

$18.00

This scent is a seductive mix of tart and sweet black cherry merlot. All proceeds go to Kamryn Koss who is battling post transplant lymphoma.

Kamryn has a rare condition that effects 1 in 20,000, known as Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARPKD). This disease enlarged her kidneys to adult size before she was born and filled them with microscopic cysts that caused her to have very low kidney function. Due to the kidneys not functioning properly (or in most cases not functioning at all). Kam at just 9 days old, underwent a single nephrectomy to help improve her breathing and lungs. A few weeks later she had a second nephrectomy leaving Kamryn with no kidneys which in turn led to daily dialysis.

Kamryn spent the first 12 weeks of her life in the NICU. During this time, she had a super risky surgery on a jet ventilator, a few blood transfusions, multiple different breathing support modes/machines, withdrawals, and both of her kidneys removed.

Kamryn continued on peritoneal dialysis at home every night until she was 17 months old.

In October 2022, “Super Kam” was the recipient of a donor kidney from her very own Superhero, her Dad Travis! :) Kam had been recovering well from her transplant until she, unfortunately, got sick in March 2023.

In April 2023, Kamryn was diagnosed with PTLD, post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder which is a lymphoma. This was due to an active Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) infection. Kamryn is on anti-rejection medication for her donated kidney, which leaves her to be very immunocompromised. Due to this, her body did not have the ability to fight this EBV virus off like a normal immune system. Unfortunately for her, the infection from EBV caused her body to start multiplying these white blood cells way too fast.

Kam will complete 6 rounds of higher dose steroid and chemotherapy over the next few months.
